● 広島はどんな街でしたか?日本に留学中にどんな体験をしましたか?
I have only stayed 4 months, so I couldn’t enjoy as much I wanted, but Hiroshima City is a very good city with many facilities and things to do. Even if the city is a bit far from the University itself, you can get there in 15 minutes by bus, which is quick but kind of expensive. I didn’t know so much about Hiroshima before, it was always surprising to discover this big city at great length. It’s quite pleasant to walk around in the downtown especially in Hondori, I felt an atmosphere we couldn’t find in Europe. There are many karaoke, yakiniku and izakaya in the surroundings, so you can always find your happiness ! I really enjoyed visiting some historic places like the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Musem and Genbaku Dome. People are particularly friendly and kind in the city and at the University, and I never felt uncomfortable or any bad intentions toward me while meeting and talking to others, so I could spend very good moments with Japanese and foreign students. The special history of Hiroshima with the atomic bombing makes it a truly peace-loving city now, and it can be felt in everyday life.

● 広島市立大学ではどんな勉強をしましたか?
In my home University in France, I was studying English and Japanese as main subjects applied in domains like economy or law as I want to work in relation with Japan in the future. So I naturally chose the International relations department’s classes which were taught in English like American Culture or Peace and Conflicts. I also had Intermediate Japanese classes twice a week. I didn’t have many courses in my schedule, only 10,5 hours per week, and even if I have participated in French and Russian classes I had still a lot of time to discover and enjoy my life in Japan. I have also taught French and Russian as a tutor to some students, which was a great experience ! Unfortunately, I couldn’t choose some classes I found in the University booklet in France but I’m very happy with the ones I chose.

● 留学をした感想や、これから広島市立大学への留学を考えている学生にメッセージをお願いします。
I really enjoyed my journey, and I finally had a great opportunity to accomplish one of my dreams, go to Japan ! Of course, everything wasn’t easy or perfect, but I was able to adapt and learn from my environment and from my myself. Speaking Japanese to others can be a tough exercise, especially at the beginning. If you want to ask something precise or get your ideas across to someone, it can be very frustrating when you didn’t have some Japanese level. But we need to go through it, and it only allow to surpass yourself and do your best. Thankfully I lived at the Sakura international dormitory, and I could find many people to speak English, practice my Japanese or just ask for some help. Even if culture and mentality are different, you can still find common points ! Sakura members allowed me to enjoy Japan even more with many dormitory events, Japanese festivals and outings with friends. The University had a plenty of clubs called “circle” and I had the opportunity to go into the dance club. I never danced before but I really appreciated it !

To finish I can say you’ll absolutely not regret going in Hiroshima ! Let accomplish your dreams too !
