Democracy and Pacifism in Postwar Japan

Description:
My lecture will deal with postwar Japan under the American occupation to discuss the course of events serving as background to problems faced by contemporary Japan, which include, for instance, the US-Japan relations that are unique in the world, the Japanese Constitution renouncing war and armaments, and Japan's isolation in East Asia.

Objective:
The purpose of my lecture is to make the students familiar with the modern history of Japan in order to provide them with a greater understanding of contemporary Japan.
